Medicare is proposing a mandatory experiment on how seniors with cancer and other serious illnesses get potentially life-saving drugs.

Congress created the Medicare Innovation Center to “voluntarily” look at new ways of delivering quality, affordable medical care – not to force doctors into experiments on patient care. But this experiment as proposed would be mandatory and affect half of the country.

This proposal would empower middlemen to delay and disrupt the time-tested Part B system where patients currently have “immediate access” to cancer drugs. Medicare has already let this happen by allowing profit-focused middlemen to dictate drug choice in Medicare Advantage with “fail-first” step therapy.

Policymakers must stand up for Medicare Part B seniors by rejecting this policy experiment.

Policymakers Must Protect Patients by Protecting Medicare Part B.
